Ragna S. Gunnarsdóttir was born in Arnórsstaðir in Jökuldalur in October 1929. Her parents were Benedikta Bergþóra Bergsdóttir, a housewife, and Gunnar Jónsson, a farmer in Gilsá. Ragna attended a mobile school for ten months in Jökuldalurshreppur. She attended a junior high school in Eskifjörður for one winter, spent two winters at the Héraðsskólinn in Laugarvatn and attended a summer course in Reykjavík. After turning forty, she took three elocution courses, one drawing course, a watercolor course, two English courses, two landscape gardening courses and two carving courses. Ragna was in the Hafnarfjörður Poet's Association for 14 years. She was one of the founders of the Átthagasamtaki Héraðsmanna and attended their first meeting for Jökuldæling and was on the association's fundraising committee for years. Was in the HanaNú association in Kópavogur from the beginning for people aged sixty and older, which was founded to prepare for old age. She worked in the association's literature club and walking club, along with other activities for years. At seventy, Ragna joined the Kópavogur Senior Citizens Association and was one of the founders of the Anonymous playgroup under that association. She took on various entertainment roles to make people laugh. She worked in various retail, cleaning and labor jobs. These include at the Cheese and Butter Shop, the Chemical Pool, the National Theatre Basement, Frank Michelsen, the Þroskathílfaskólinn, Kópavogur School and worked as a daycare center. She also owned and ran a night club in Hafnarfjörður.
