Jakob Gunnlögsson was born in Skagaströnd in Húnavatnssýsla on August 4, 1857. His parents
were Gunnlögur Guttormsson, Guðmundsson, sheriff from Krossavík,
and his wife Margrét Halldórsdóttir, the provost from Melstaður, sister of Daniel
