Jóhannes Jóhanneson, painter (1921-1998) studied gold and silversmithing in Reykjavík and made that trade his main occupation until 1973. He studied art in Reykjavík, the United States and Italy, among others, and was one of the participants in the September exhibitions, which caused so much upheaval in the years after World War II. Jóhannes turned entirely to painting after 1973. In addition to holding numerous solo exhibitions in Iceland and abroad, he participated in numerous group exhibitions, including with the SEPTEM group in the last decades of the century.
