On June 4, 1953, the head of the Árneshrepp district came to the farm Kambi in the same village to auction off the estate of the head of the household, who had died earlier in the year. The housewife was in the tuberculosis hospital at Vífilsstaðir but at home only for the children, eight in number and aged 7 to 18. When all the useful things of the farm had been sold to the highest bidders, the children were to be disposed of in a home in the village according to the ancient rules of rural dispossession. Then it happens that an eighteen-year-old homemaker stands at the front door and forbids any of her siblings to be taken away from the home. After some time, the authorities leave the farm and leave the children in a state of anger.
