Steinbjørn Berghamar Jacobsen (30 September 1937 – 12 April 2012) was a Faroese writer, poet and teacher. Jacobsen was best known for his children's books, but he also wrote short stories, novels and plays. Jacobsen was awarded the Færøernes litteraturpris (MA Jacobsen's Literary Prize) in 1981 in the category of fiction.
Jacobsen was born and raised in Sandvík on September 30, 1937. He died of cancer on April 12, 2012 in Tórshavn, aged 74. Sandvík is the northernmost town on the Faroe Islands' southernmost island, Suðuroy. When Jacobsen grew up there was no road connection to Sandvík, you either had to go over the mountain to Hvalba and then to Tvøroyri, or you also had to sail. Sandvík was connected to Hvalba with a tunnel in 1969. Before Jacobsen started at the teacher's seminary in Tórshavn, he tried his hand at sewing, which can be seen as a theme in some of his works.
He was rector of Føroya Folk University (Færøernes Højskole) from 1970 to 1980.
