A collection of poems by Snorri Hjartarson.
Snorri Hjartarson (1906-1986) was one of the nation's most artistic poets of the 20th century, and his diverse oeuvre forms a unique whole in many ways. Few have combined the two eras of tradition and innovation so well in their poetry, whether in terms of form or ideology. For his last book, Hauströkkríð yfyr mér , Snorri received the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 1981.
This new edition of Snorri's Poetry Collection, published to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, contains all of his poetry books: Poems, On Gnitaheiði, Leaves and Stars, and Autumn Storm Over Me, in addition to printing 26 of Snorri's remaining poems, which are a welcome addition to his poetry collection.
The book is also adorned with images that have never before been seen in public; from Snorri's own manuscripts and photographs from his private collection. Author Hjörtur Pálsson writes a detailed introduction about the poet and his work.
