Women's Gold in the Ore Smelting Industry. Short stories by William Heinesen. Translated by Þorgeir Þorgeirsson.

In the original language: Don Juan from the tranhuset.

Here are these short stories - Topic: Summer Day: prologue -- The Knife -- The Dance Poem about Tví-Símon and Kelda-Kölla -- Moonlight over Horeb -- Dóda -- Modern Demands -- Women's Gold in the Smelting of Ore -- Darkness Speaks to a Flowering Bush: epilogue.

The Maltese farmer had died five years before I was born, and I didn't get to know him until he had become a ghost. When the smelter stood dark and charred on moonlit winter nights out on the barren moors, you could see his face glow behind a window hole at the top of the wall that faced the land. If you were lucky, you could also hear him singing and playing the sitar.
