On the occasion of the centenary of Professor Guðmundur Hannesson on September 9, 1966, the boards of the Icelandic Medical Association and the Reykjavík Medical Association decided to honor his memory by having a photocopy of the Læknablaðið that he published in Akureyri from 1902 to 1904. This photocopy is being made in 500 numbered copies from a copy of the paper that had been in the possession of Guðmundur's wife, Mrs. Karólína Ísleifsdóttir, but is now preserved in the University Library.
Professor Guðmundur wrote the entire journal in his own hand, hectographed several copies and sent them to his colleagues in North and East Iceland. This is the first Læknablað to be published in Iceland, with a total of three volumes.
