The Lamb and Other Stories by José Jiménez Lozano. Translated by Jón Thoroddsen and Kristín G. Jónsdóttir.
This book contains a selection of three short story collections by one of Spain's most notable authors of recent times, José Jiménez Lozano.
The author's main subject is various events in the history of Spain, past and present, especially those concerning the church and Christianity. But the author is not preaching any more than other great artists. Or as the translators' afterword says: "His stories do not present a religious message that has been given a poetic guise, but he seeks to show us men of flesh and blood in their misery, which more often than not concerns their religious inclinations and positions; but he does so in such a way that sympathy always balances out the ruthlessness of the subject matter."
