Frímann Einarsson was born in Eyrarbakki in 1890 and his parents were Einar Jónsson, a blacksmith, and Ingibjörg Vigfúsdóttir.
Frímann grew up mostly at Þingskálar in Rangárvallasýsla with Guðrún Filipussdóttir and Sæmundur Guðmundsson.
At a young age, Frímann began his seafaring career, first with Eggert Gíslason from Kothús in Garður.
Frímann published two books of poetry. The first, Öldufaldar, was published in 1953 and the second , Niður daganna, in 1960.
