On Leir, the most famous poets exchange poetry for their entertainment, and the verses that have appeared there number in the tens of thousands. Many of the country's most famous poets have written or composed on Leir, for example Björn Ingólfsson, Björn Þorleifsson, Friðrik Steingrímsson, Hákon Aðalsteinsson, Hjálmar Freysteinsson, Jón Ingvar Jónsson, Óttar Einarsson, Ragnar Ingi Aðalsteinsson and Þórarinn Eldjárn.
This book features a selection of Leir's poems, all of which are lighter in tone or what can be called humorous verses.
The book contains about 600 verses by 53 poets.
