along the sidewalk
This is where we lived.
Here my sister danced
barefoot in the wind
waited for the lover
who left
her legs were furious
I sat on the steps.
and looked at her
polished image
of a lost friend
who had written poetry
about flowers on women's skirts
I loved poetry.
which I had never heard
