The Secret of Mrs. Stefanía. Stefanía Guðmundsdóttir, actress, contemporary and fellow travelers. By Jón Viðar Jónsson.
The life and career of actress Stefanía Guðmundsdóttir is one of the adventures of Icelandic cultural history. She died in the prime of life in 1926, barely fifty years old, but managed to leave a deep mark on Icelandic theatrical life and do invaluable pioneering work. She possessed a magnetism that did both: attract the public to the theater and hold together the theater group that was the core of the Reykjavík Theater Company in its early decades.

She enjoyed immense respect and admiration from most of her contemporaries, and the poet Þorsteinn Erlingsson called the theatre in Iceland "the colonization of Stefania". Einar H. Kvaran took the same line in his postscript about her: "She was the first colonization woman. She was the blush of the morning. She was the spring." The book is adorned with numerous images, many of which have not been published before.
