The oak lives even though the leaves blow. The biography of Árný Filippusdóttir, principal of Hverabakkar. Anna Ingólfsdóttir, Katrín Jónasdóttir and Margrét Björgvinsdóttir.
This book is published on the occasion of the centenary of Árný Ingibjörg Filippusdóttir from Hellum in Landsveit.
Árný went to Copenhagen to get an education in 1918 as a young woman and spent eight years studying and working there, often on very limited terms. When she returned to Iceland, she began teaching, first at Laugar in Reykjadalur and later became principal of the Women's School in Blönduós. For a time, she taught courses run by the Southern Women's Association.
At the age of forty, she founded the Women's School in Hverabakkar and ran it for over twenty years.
