Sigurður Eggerz (born 1 March 1875 in Borðeyri, died 16 November 1945) was a lawyer, politician, banker, writer, poet and playwright. He was Prime Minister of Iceland from 21 July 1914 to 4 May 1915, and from 7 March 1922 to 22 March 1924. He was a member of the Althingi (Parliament) from 1911 to 1915, 1916 to 1926 and 1927 to 1931, Minister of Finance from 1917 to 1920 and was one of the founders of the Independence Party in 1929. Sigurður was the CEO of Íslandsbanki from 1924 to 1930.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Copenhagen in 1903.
Sigurður ran for mayor of Reykjavík in 1920, but lost in the general election to Knud Zimsen. This is the only time a mayor has been elected in this manner.
