Opinions and proposals of the Planning Committee for Employment. This report was often referred to as the Red Report .
But on this planning committee for employment, the following people sat. (In fact, there is such an interesting article about the committee in the magazine Storm that I am going to rewrite the list of committee members from there). - Héðinn Valimarsson, representative of the British oil industry, Emil Jónsson, mayor of Hafnarfjörður, Ásgeir Stefánsson, director of the Hafnarfjörður fishing industry, Steingrímur Steinþórsson, who was then the principal of the school in Hólar, Jónas Jónasson, former minister.
As you can see, two of the committee members were drawn from Hafnarfjörður, and that was only natural, because the socialist organization there under the leadership of these two men had brought blessings and abundance to the municipality in recent years.
Then of course it was also natural to include Steingrímur Steinþórsson in the committee, because he managed the state business at Hólar. He had received 50-60 thousand. kr. from the treasury to improve the land and to buy livestock with it and the loss on the land in almost two years was only just over 16 thousand krónur. Then Héðinn Valdimarsson was also in fact self-elected, because he had the experience in how to get foreign currency into the country and build villas for a commission in British pounds sterling.
Jónas Jónasson was mainly elected because of his compassion and love for all classes of society, but at the same time it was also a compensation for not becoming a minister in the newly established Icelandic Soviet state.
