Sigurður was an exceptionally imaginative and artistic poet, and his poems have a special magical power. In his own personal way, he praised the beauty and glory of life, but also wrote with insight and sensitivity about the complex and sometimes painful emotions that come with being human. He was a sincere lover of beauty, in constant rebellion against the oppressive forces of existence.
For this selection, Kristján Þórður Hrafnsson has selected material from all sixteen of Sigurður's poetry books. He also writes a foreword about the poet and the poems. Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson writes the afterword.
