Poetry Collection I-II. Poems by Einar Bragi. Introduction by Ástráður Eysteinsson.
Einar Bragi (1921-2005) was a member of the so-called atomic poets and played a major role in the changes that occurred in Icelandic poetry around and after the mid-20th century. He published a number of poetry collections, often breaking new ground in their publication, was an initiator in the founding of the magazine Birtingur, and was a prolific translator of foreign poetry.
This edition contains the bulk of Einar Bragi's original poetry, from his first book of poetry, Eitt kvóð í júni (1950), to his last, Ljós í augum dagsins (2000), in addition to an extensive selection of his poetry translations, which also span over half a century.
Literary scholar Ástráður Eysteinsson selected the poems and wrote a detailed introduction that presents a new perspective on the poet's career.
