Poetry by Harald G. Sigurgeirsson.
This is the only book by Haraldur G. Sigurgeirsson.
A good copy in excellent binding. Rare Western print.
Haraldur G. Sigurgeirsson was born at Grund in Eyjafjörður on 20 Jan. 1871. His parents were Rev. Sigurgeir Jakobsson, a pastor there, and his wife Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir. After his father died, he moved with his mother and siblings west in 1888 and they settled in Mikley in Lake Winnipeg. He lived there until his death, on 28 Sept. 1911. – Haraldur is said to have been versatile in speech and hands and very artistic; learned languages easily, did a lot of short stories and poetry and published a small collection of poems. Played the parlor organ exceptionally well, mostly self-taught, and composed several songs. A large collection of his songs is said to exist in the possession of his relatives, whom I have unfortunately not had the opportunity to see. He must have received correspondence lessons in music theory and some other instruction as well. One song was printed and was called "Frelsissöngur". Both the poem and the song were by Harald.
