The poetic kingdom of Iceland. 65 years in 66 messages to you. Poems by Sindri Freysson.

"The Icelandic Republic is a highly political historical poem, in which the history of the republic for 65 years is traced in 66 stanzas, as stated on the title page. The book is a direct response to the crisis and in it the author reflects on the history of the Icelandic Republic and touches on various events, both large and small. The goal is to analyze the Icelandic Republic and shed poetic, excuse me, light on the crisis that is now hitting the bank accounts (but not the gas tanks if the ridiculous car waste is to be noted) of Icelanders. Overall, it can be said that this is a success. Although the theme of 'the Icelandic Republic' becomes a little tired as time goes on, it does not reduce the impact that characterizes the book. The final chapters, those closest to us in time, are perhaps the most irregular in structure, as there is a lot to take in and the distance has not made it as easy for the author to arrange events, as mentioned earlier, both small and large, in the striking context that he manages to capture elsewhere in the book. On the other hand, it is perhaps natural that a lot happens towards the end, the block is of that nature and one could even say that one can find an interaction between the resolution that the poem describes and the resolution that enters the poem towards the end." Úlfhildur Dagsdóttir.
