According to www.gegnir.is, this is Guðlaugur Guðmundsson's only book. In addition, two small prints are registered under Guðlaugur: Minni sungin í samséti veðerzlunarmanna á Hotel Alexandra, Wednesday 17 February 1886, and Minni sungin í samséti veðerzlunarmanna á Hotel Alexandra, á Hotel Alexandra, á út samséti 1886.
Guðlaugur was born in Syðri-Skógar in Kolbeinsstaðahreppur, the son of Guðmundur Gíslason in Syðri–Skógar and his second wife, Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir. Guðlaugur graduated from the Prestoskólinn in 1887. He was a pastor at Staðarhraun in Hraunhreppur, later Skarðsþingar and then served for a time at Melur on Skarðsströnd but also in Hvalgröfir and Dagverðarnes. He was then a pastor at Stað in Steingrímsfjörður from 1908–1921 and lived at Hrófberg. He was released from his position in 1921 and moved to Reykjavík, where he lived until his death. Guðlaugur's wife was Margrét Jónasdóttir, a pastor at Staðarhraun. Among their children was the poet Jónas Guðlaugsson.
