Poetry by Ólín and Herdís Andrjesdætur.

Second edition, expanded.

Ólína and Herdís Andrésdætur were born in Hólsbúð in Flatey on June 13, 1858. They were "from the distinguished Breidabír family of poets, which Rev. Matthías made most famous", as Rev. Jón Auðuns wrote in an article about the sisters in Morgunblaðis's Lesbók in 1935.

The sisters are cousins of another well-known poet associated with Flatey, Theodóra Thoroddsen. The artist Muggur (Guðmundur Thorsteinsson) from Bíldudalur was their cousin, and Hölluhús in Flatey was named after his sister. Another poet who came to Flatey as a young man is also their cousin, the national poet Matthíasar Jochumsson. It can therefore be truly said that they are closely related to many good poets and artists who have lived in Flatey.
