Olof the Eskimo. The biography of an Icelandic dwarf in the Western Hemisphere. Compiled and recorded by Inga Dóra Björnsdóttir.
In 1858, a dwarf girl was born in Ytri-Löngumýri in Blöndudalur. This was Ólöf Sölvadóttir, who moved to the West at the age of 18 and soon joined an American theater company. Later, she dressed up in Inuit costume and began giving lectures about Greenland and her life there, a country she had never set foot in. As the Eskimo Olof Krarer, she became one of the most popular speakers in the United States for three decades. Anthropologist Inga Dóra Björnsdóttir tells here about Ólof's adventurous life and sheds light on her deception and how she got away with it. (Bókatíðindi 2004).
