Unnur Sólrún was born in Vopnafjörður in 1951 but grew up in Eskifjörður from 1956. She holds a matriculation degree from MR and completed a fil.cand degree in literary history, economic history and Swedish from Stockholm University. Unnur Sólrún also studied pedagogy at the University of Education and has completed various courses and courses over the years, including at Malmö University.
Unnur has lived and worked in Iceland for the longest time, apart from her university years. She has worked mainly as a teacher, both as a general teacher and a special education teacher. In 2009, Unnur moved to Sweden for further studies and after that she worked as a mother tongue teacher in primary and secondary schools in Lund, Sweden.
Unnur is retired and lives in Simrishamn, Sweden. (www.skald.is)
