Lúðvík D. Norðdalur was born in Eyjarkot on Skagaströnd in Austur-Húnavatnssýsla on July 6, 1895, the son of a poor couple. He married Ásta Jónsdóttir and they had three children. Lúðvík became a doctor in Eyrarbakki in 1922 and in Selfoss in 1945 and throughout his working life. He was a doctor in times of change, his working conditions were primitive at first and he sometimes had to perform difficult surgeries in homes. At first, the means of transport was by horse, but then cars came into the picture. Lúðvík enjoyed the trust of his clients and showed perseverance and diligence in difficult conditions. He was a participant in southern human life with all his heart and soul. Lúðvík retired from work due to poor health in 1954 and died on January 27, 1955 in Reykjavík at the age of only 59.
