In the book, the author discusses in detail and with great knowledge the so-called "Blöndu Debate", which became known through media coverage about a decade and a half ago, but had been largely silent among most people for several years when the book was published. It goes without saying that the book should be a welcome reference work for all the many men and women throughout the country who are concerned with environmental and nature conservation issues, and from it they can draw a great deal of lessons, especially about how not to stand by important decisions about major projects in sensitive wilderness areas, decisions that cannot be taken back after they have been implemented and that leave an ugly testimony to the shortsightedness of the people responsible for them.
The author of the book makes no secret of the fact that he himself was among the land conservationists who opposed the chosen Blönda power plant route, which resulted in much more land destruction than would have been necessary if another route had been chosen, but in that regard, there were certainly different options to choose from. He also clearly states, at the beginning of the book, that his position on the Blönda power plant influenced his choice of sources and discussion of them. The reader should therefore not expect the author to speak from the position of an impartial judge in this dispute, as that would be problematic. The book contains a defense and justification for the views of the land conservationists, and the issues are indeed well and skillfully handled.
