Human journeys and ancient paths. Magnús Björnsson at Syðra-Hóli compiled and catalogued.
Magnús á Syðra-Hóli is no novice in the field of writing, although this is his first book. Despite a busy farming career for 40 years and the hustle and bustle of various confidential duties for his village, he has previously written many story episodes, which have appeared in publications and books in recent years, but most of them can be found in the books of the Húnvetningar Historical Society, Svipar og segnum I-IV . These works of his have deserved attention and received justifiable praise from the most competent people.
Magnús has many qualities of a good scholar and historian. He is a well-educated man, a sharp memory, diligent and meticulous with sources, an excellent genealogist and, last but not least, he has such a mastery of style and eloquence that his writings will be a veritable treasure trove for all who love the Icelandic language. (Cover text).
Here are episodes from Reverend Eggert Ólafsson Brím, Two Travel Stories: Going to School; Home from School, Frímann the Kindergarten Teacher, Jakob Frímannsson, Far Away, Guðmundur in Kollugerði, Guðmundur in Höskuldsstaðasel, Bjarni in Strjúgur, Jón in Jeríkó, Baldvin's Death, Helga, Jón Kurfur, Friðrik the Stammerer, Guðmundur the Scrivener and Sigríður in Haukagil.
