The author Þórarinn Gr. Víkingur, has explored various stages and experienced many trials in his life. He was raised in Kelduhverfi in N. Þingeyjarsýsla, and is the son of prominent family trees from that region. He lived his adult years there.
At fifty he embarks on a journey to America with his family, all the way west to the Pacific coast. He stays there for a while, but is not confined to one family, as he travels widely, including to Alaska. He returns to Iceland, starts farming again, and becomes a farmer at Vattarnes near Reyðarfjörður.
