Descriptions of people. By Sigurður Nordal. Jóhannes Nordal supervised the publication. Editorial committee: Eiríkur Hreinn Finnbogason, Kristján Karlsson and Ólafur Pálmason.
The three volumes of Sigurður Nordal's writings that appear here are the first in a series of complete editions of his writings. A common characteristic of the writings, essays, and articles contained within them is that interpretations of individuals are the common thread, but of course much more is discussed, not least cultural history, poetry, and other literature.
The first volume is entitled From Snorri to Hallgrímur and deals with characters from earlier periods of Icelandic history.
The second volume is called Skáldaöld and examines fourteen poets of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The name of the third volume is Svipir and describes 71 individuals, most of whom were contemporaries of Sigurður Nordal. (Cover text).
