Ms. Thora Friðriksson (Thora Frederikke Halldórsdóttir Friðriksson) was a writer and the author of one of the first textbooks on French in Icelandic. She was also one of the main instigators of the establishment of the Alliance francaise in Iceland in 1911 and for a long time its honorary president. She was awarded the French government's decorations, namely Officier d´ Académie (1909), Officier de L´Instruction publique (1926) and Chevalier de la Légion d´honneur (1928). She was also active in the municipal affairs of Reykjavík and the women's department of the Icelandic Accident Prevention Association.
She was the daughter of Halldór Kr. Friðriksson, head teacher, and his wife Charlotte Karoline.
