In the preface, the author says that he was sent to study carpentry and that his father advised him "even though he and others knew that I had little or no talent for such work". Hallbjörn Pétur worked as a carpentry apprentice for 10 years. Hallbjörn Pétur says; "Now I have found my calling in life and I am very happy that that calling is to write and compose - although this profession of mine has received some opposition, I ignore it, because I am absolutely 100% sure that my writings will bring justice wherever they are."
