Guðmundur Eggerz was born in Borðeyri on September 30, 1873, died on December 16, 1957. His parents were Pétur Friðriksson Eggerz and his wife Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, a housewife. Brother of Sigurður Eggerz, a member of the Althingi and a minister, and brother-in-law of Ólafur Thorlacius, a member of the Althingi. Guðmundur completed his matriculation examination at the Lærðaskólinn in 1894 and his law degree at Hafnarháskóli in 1902.
