The Rotary Club of Keflavík in collaboration with the City of Keflavík had a monument erected to Helgi S. Jónsson at the Scout Center in Keflavík. The monument was dedicated in August 1985. At that time, the Rotary Club agreed to have a memoir about Helgi S. made in words and pictures. And to present it to the Suðurnes Museum as a manuscript as a gift from the club. Kristinn Reyr undertook to do the work. Here is a photocopy of this Memoir about Helgi S. Jónsson.
Helgi S. Jónsson was a great social activist and an active enthusiast for progressive causes in Keflavík. He founded, among other things, the Heiðarbúi scout association, was a member of Rotary, and was far to the right of center in politics.
