A child of nature. Sturla Friðriksson tells the story.
Sturla Friðriksson has strong roots. His father, Friðrik Jónsson, was a theologian by training, but made trading his life's work and also ran a large farm. Friðrik and his brother Sturla worked together in this business for a long time. They were often called the Sturlu brothers.
Sturla was raised in a wealthy cultural home in Reykjavík. Into that upbringing was woven a valuable element, as he was exposed to farming and to Icelandic nature, spending long summers at Laxfoss in Borgarfjörður from his childhood.
Sturla bears a strong imprint of his heritage and environment. He is a typical scholar who is not a stranger to the realm of science and education. He is knowledgeable about most aspects of life in Iceland from ancient times to the present day. He has a strong desire to learn from a young age, but also from having had close contact with experts in many fields of science from a young age.
Here, Sturla recounts his childhood memories, tells of his ancestors, fellow travelers, and other things that shaped the man we know today.
