Hannes Stephensen Gunnlaugsson Blöndal was born on Ytra-Hólmur in Akranes. Parents Gunnlaugur Pétur Björnsson Blöndal, sheriff of Barðastrond, and kh Sigríður Sveinbjarnardóttir. Graduated from Möðruvellir in 1882. Worked in various commercial jobs and teaching children. Went to America in 1899 but returned in 1907 and became an employee of Landsbanki Íslands. A good poet and published four books of poetry as well as a number of poems in newspapers and magazines. (Blöndalsættin, pp. 261-263.).
