Sometimes strange things appear
poems that rise ahead like walls –
I think skeptically: are these poems...
They may seem more similar
an occupation other than profit-making
but something related – and familiar to me from ancient times.
My mind is on building a bridge across the ravine:
My father, sweating, lays stone upon stone.
Straw bridges are weak, my poems and days.
