This is a groundbreaking work in Icelandic dictionary publishing, as Orðaheimur is the first dictionary of terms published in this country. This is a comprehensive but very accessible work and is primarily intended to pave the way for users to find appropriate wording for various occasions, both in speech and writing. The book therefore has to some extent the same practical value as a thesaurus, although the presentation and content structure are completely different. Here, about 33,000 phrases are described under 840 terminologies. It is therefore easy to find solutions to any problem and it is equally easy to forget about the richness of the language and its endless possibilities of expression. A comprehensive index of search terms ensures direct access to all phrases and terms, and the book also contains an English index of keywords that makes it easier for foreign users to access its content.
