A village is created in Flateyri. Issue 1. Threads spun from letters from a father to his son. Compiled and indexed by Jóhanna Guðrún Kristjánsdóttir.
The correspondence collections of the couple Guðrún Torfadóttir from Flateyri and Rev. Jóhann Lúther Sveinbjarnarson, dean of Hólmur in Reyðarfjörður, number around 1100 letters from countless correspondents. Two of them are María Össurardóttir, Guðrún's mother, and Sveinbjörn Magnússon, Rev. Jóhann Lúther's father.
Flateyri by Önundarfjörður was established as a village in the latter half of the 19th century. Fishing and processing of the catch were the basis. Letters written in Flateyri around the turn of the century 1900 are of great interest. They are part of two collections of letters that have been lying there for about 100 years in a suitcase and a chest of drawers. Here you will find various interesting facts from the history of the village. (Bókatíðindi 2016).
