Carl Erik Kjellin, born January 18, 1776 in Gothenburg, died January 6, 1844 in Kumla, was a Swedish mathematician, professor and later priest.
Kjellin became a student in Uppsala in 1794, a master of philosophy (with second honors) in 1803 and a docent in physics in 1805, but he was appointed professor at the Göta Artillery Regiment in 1806. Since this position in the 1809-10 Riksdag, he was put on probation and for some time (1811) lectured at the Swedish Artillery Regiment, in 1812 he became a professor of mathematics at the University of Lund, a priest 1819 and erhöll 1825 Kumla pastorate in Strängnäs stift. He published a number of academic theses, some of which, of course, attest to the fact that he was a worthy reader in the mathematical literature of the day, but lacks all originality. On the other hand, his hall läroböcker Plan och sferisk trigonometry (1807), Grunderna till geometrien (1814), Grunderna till arithmeticen (1816) and Försök till en elementar lärobok i astronomien (1822) god klass.
