This is Ólafía Guðrún's only book. Previously, poems by her had appeared in the poetry book Äd mælti mín móðir , which was a sample book of poems by 30 women. Ólafía Guðrún was born in Skallahóll in Dalasýsla in 1917. At a young age, she became known as a needlewoman and seamstress, and she also spent her free time writing. Her life was not a bed of roses, however, and she struggled with ill health for most of it. In 1941, she married Emil Helgason and they lived in Reykjavík until her death in 1948.
