From folk life. A play in seven acts. By Pál Hallbjörnsson.

Foreword.

The play takes place in Reykjavík around 1955 - 65. It deals with several problems in the lives of the people, such as poverty, usury in the money market, tax evasion and the problem of excessive drinking. Some may find it too "brutal". But the author feels that it shows a fairly true picture of the time period, if it takes place in, and of the people it deals with.
Paul Hallbjornsson.

The stage.

A green and overgrown mountain valley with snowdrifts on the edges and ravines. On the southern slopes there is scrub and some birch forest, but on the northern side there are bare slopes. The flora and vegetation are quite abundant. The valley as a whole is peculiar and beautiful.
