State and Church. The Origin and Development of the National Church Concept. By Sigurjón Árni Eyjólfsson.
When Augustine's Confessions were published around 400, it was a novelty in literary history. They have since become a direct or indirect model for many. But although other works have followed suit, the Confessions still stand out as a classic and timeless work. Augustine is one of the Church Fathers and his influence within Christianity is therefore very great, but he is also considered one of the philosophers of antiquity who are a living subject in the present day. The book is divided into 13 books, the first 9 of which were published by the Icelandic Cultural Fund in 1962. The book has now been republished and a new translation of the four books that were previously missing has been added. (Bókatíðindi 2006).
