Hallgrímur Jónsson, physician 1787–1860.
Born in Borgargerði in Höfðahverfi, son of Jón Sigurðsson of Lómatjörn and his wife Guðrún Eiríksdóttir. Grew up in Þingeyjarsýsla but then moved to Skagafjörður and lived there in various places and practiced medicine. He wrote rhymes and much more. Rhymes of Hjálmar the Wise, The Adventures of Seliko and Berissa and Rhymes of Þórður Hreða were printed while he was alive, but more rhymes were printed after he died.
