Hallgrímur Jónsson, a physician (1787–1860), was born in Borgargerði in Höfðahverfi, the son of Jón Sigurðsson of Lómatjörn and Guðrún Eiríksdóttir. He grew up in Þingeyjarsýsla but then moved to Skagafjörður and lived in various places there and practiced medicine. He wrote rhymes and much more. Rhymes of Hjálmar the Wise, The Adventures of Seliko and Berissa and Rhymes of Þórður Hreðu were printed after he was alive, but more rhymes were printed after he was dead. Reykjavík. Coster.
