The Wonderful Years. A novel by Reiner Kunze. Translated by Björn Bjarnason.
Reiner Kunze is an East German poet, born in 1933. He has received many literary awards both in his homeland and abroad, and his works are now published in about 20 languages. Kunze's books have been banned in East Germany since 1968, when he and other artists protested the invasion of Czechoslovakia. Since then, they have only been published west of the Wall, where Kunze has lived since 1977.
The Wonderful Years was first published in 1976. It deals with the lives of young people in the author's then homeland. The book is composed of many very short stories - a kind of picture - a simple book and modest. (Cover text).
