The legal status of Greenland, a colony of Iceland. By Dr. jur. Jón Dúason. Doctoral thesis, University of Oslo, 1928 .
Dr. Jón Dúason was born in Langhús in the Haganeshreppur district of Skagafjörður. He graduated in 1913 and studied cooperative studies (sociology) at Hafnarfjörður University in Denmark and Scotland. After that, he studied economics and became a cand. polyt. in Copenhagen in 1919. He then studied banking in Britain and the Nordic countries and was a state and city employee in Höfn for several years. In 1928, Dr. Jón defended his thesis for a doctorate in law at the University of Oslo. The thesis was called: “Grönlands rettsstilling i middelælden”. Two years earlier, in 1926, Jón had become a major merchant, but he soon gave up trading and turned to the project that had been on his mind – researching and collecting sources on the history and legal status of Greenland. Jón is also best known for the many publications he wrote about Iceland's legal claim to Greenland. (Source: Wikipedia ).
