The 2003 FÍ Yearbook covers the eastern part of the vast volcanic area up the Reykjanes Peninsula, from Selvogur in the south and up to Skjaldbreið and Þórisjökull in the north. The book contains directions to recent and ancient sites, geology, history and human life.
The authors are Þór Vigfússon, former schoolmaster who writes about Selvog, Ölfus, Grafning and Þingvallasveit and Guðrún Ása Grímsdóttir, historian who writes about Grímsnesafrétt. The illustrator is Björn Þorsteinsson, but the book also includes pictures by Odd Sigurðsson, Jón Viðar Sigurðsson, Sigurbjörg and Guðrún Ása Grímsdætur. Guðmundur Ó. Ingvarsson drew the topographic maps based on printed original data from the National Land Survey. Guðmundur also drew a lava map based on data from geologists Haukur Jóhannesson and Kristján Sæmundsson.
