This little book is so arranged that students in Copenhagen did not think it was a bad idea to show some sign of life at the turn of the century. They saw, in fact, that it would be impossible for them to publish a memoir that was worthy of such a significant event; that would have required great preparation and such a huge financial outlay. They did not see themselves able to spend many hundreds of kronor, since it was uncertain whether a large and expensive book would sell so well that it would support itself, even if it was not sooner or later. It was therefore decided to have a 6-8 sheet book printed, with essays that might be on the scales.
