Safety at the forefront. The history of aviation in Iceland. Compiled by Lýður Björnsson.
In nine chapters, the author clearly traces this story to the present day. The first chapter tells of the first stages of aviation and aeronautical engineering. Then the story is told for the period 1928-1943. The third chapter is called Technical Advances of Two Decades and mainly describes aeronautical engineering at the Icelandic Airlines and Loftleiði. International flights have now begun and there is much to be done for aeronautical engineers in difficult conditions. The fourth chapter tells of aeronautical engineering at various smaller airlines. The next chapter tells of the activities of aeronautical engineers abroad. The sixth chapter describes the educational issues of aeronautical engineers. The seventh chapter is about aeronautical engineering at Flugleðiði. The eighth is a kind of overview of eight decades of aeronautical engineering and the ninth and final chapter is devoted to the Icelandic Aeronautical Engineers' Association, social activities, wage issues and the chairman's speech.
