Saga frá Skagfirðingum is an extensive source book in yearbook form about news, people and the way of life in Skagafjörður from 1685-1847, but the narrative also extends to other regions, especially in North Iceland. Jón Espólín, the district magistrate, is the author of the work up until 1835, and then Einar Bjarnason, a scholar at Mælifell, and the narrative becomes fuller and more diverse as time goes on.
Saga from Skagfirðingum bears all the same authorial characteristics as the Espólínsm Annuals, both in terms of content, language and style.
Kristmundur Bjarnason, a scholar at Sjávarborg, has written extensive explanations and appendices to the work, which bring the story closer to the present day. In addition to Kristmundur, the publications are handled by Hannes Pétursson, a poet, and Ögmundur Helgason, a BA. (Cover text).
